The Commonwealth Secretariat recently published a study entitled Mapping Sector Skills Development across the Commonwealth. The broad objectives of this study are to map approaches to sector skills development across 16 Commonwealth member countries and to explore the different approaches that are used. In doing so the the study identified the structures that been utilised, the different functions they they perform, and how they relate to the broad processes associated skills development and reform. The study provides key lesson for developing countries who want to embark on developing a sector based reform to skills development and those who want to reform their existing systems. A copy of the study can be found on the following webpages. The author of this report is Dr Marcus Powell, Technical Director of the Centre for Employment Initiatives.
